Dr. Michael C. Carson
God has richly blessed Pastor Mike with many talents, gifts, and responsibilities. He currently serves as Pastor for the Union Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He also served pastorates in Kokomo, Indiana (Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church), Evansville, Indiana (Alexander Chapel A.M.E. Church), and Mount Vernon, Indiana (Bethel A.M.E. Church). He served for twelve years as the Chairman for the Indiana Annual Conference (A.M.E. Church) Board of Examiners Ministerial Training Program. He served for four years on the Indiana Annual Conference Finance Committee. He is currently serves as the Director of Public Relations for the Michigan Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He is also a member of the Michigan Annual Conference (A.M.E. Church) Board of Examiners Ministerial Training Program and Finance Commission. He is a member of the Michigan Annual Conference Finance Committee, and Finance Co-Chairperson for the Michigan South District of the Fourth Episcopal District (A.M.E. Church). He serves on the State of Michigan Faith-Base Initiative Board of Directors. He is a Consultant on Conflict Resolution. He serves as a Deputy Chaplain for the Berrien County (Michigan) Sheriff Department. He has served on a mayoral transition team. He served as a Commissioner for the Kokomo (Indiana) Housing Authority. Carson serves on the faculty for the Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan, Ivy Tech State College (Kokomo, Indiana), Christian Theological Seminary (Indianapolis, Indiana), Payne Theological Seminary (Wilberforce, Ohio), Simmons Bible College (Kokomo, Indiana), Indiana University at Kokomo, and served as a Site Supervisor for the McCormick Theological Seminary Field Education Program (Chicago, Illinois). Carson is a prolific writer. He is the Religion Columnist for the Blessed Gospel Magazine (South Bend, Indiana). He is the Religion Columnist for the Benton (Benton Harbor, Michigan) Spirit Community Newspaper, and is in his eighteenth year as Religion Columnist for the Kokomo (Indiana) Tribune Newspaper. He is a contributing writer for the A.M.E. Church Christian Recorder Newspaper (The oldest African American publication still in continuous print). He is the Co-Founder of The Carson Publishing Company & Gallery and Vision Ministries. He writes for a number of publications. He also has produced and served as host for Sunday morning radio broadcasts. He has written God will you trust me? Lessons on Christian Stewardship, What Child Is This: Lessons On Advent Books One, Two, & Three, I Am More Than Male Im A Man, Follow me, and I will make you Lessons On Spiritual Leadership, The Thirteenth Step: Lessons On Living A Spirit-Filled & Abuse Free Life, among other titles addressing Spirituality, Theology, Homiletics, Recovery, and Self Improvement. Concerning his writing skills it has been stated, "Carson is a very gifted and anointed writer. He does not take his gift for granted; he is always working to convey ideas and concepts and sharpen his writing skills." God has established Dr. Carson as a leading authority in the area of Mentoring. In 1994 he founded The Boys and Girls Mentoring Program and is a much sought after speaker and facilitator in the area of Mentoring. He serves as a Conflict Resolution Consultant/Trainer for Citizens for Progressive Change (Benton Harbor, Michigan), High School & Junior High School Development Program. He has served on Drug Task Forces as well as a Spiritual Director, Life Coach, Motivational Speaker, Revivalist, Diversity Trainer, Master of Ceremony, and served as for twelve years as an Assistant Coach for the Kokomo (Indiana) High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team. Dr. Carson delivered the Baccalaureate Sermon for Wilberforce Universitys Commencement. His preaching skills are very evident, there is great power in his messages, and Sunday morning worship is an awesome spiritual event. He permits the Holy Spirit to use him, and bless a congregation through him. His pastor's heart, his desire to be better, his dedication to the evangelical and teaching power of the Word of God comes through very clearly! This is why he is a much sought after speaker, teacher and spiritual director. Concerning his preaching and public speaking skills it has been stated Carson brings the same zeal, preparation, and delivery to the public speaking and teaching arena. After hearing Dr. Carson-just say Amen! Pastor Carson led Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church in paying off and burning their church mortgage. He has received The Distinguished Hoosier Award, and Keys to the Cities of Evansville, Indiana and Kokomo, Indiana. He is a Rotarian and member of the NAACP. Dr. Carson has on four occasions received the U.S. Jaycees "Outstanding Young Man of America Award." He completed the Lake Michigan College Leadership Academy (Benton Harbor, Michigan). Carson holds a Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity Degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, A Bachelor of Arts Degree from Earlham College, and a Diploma from Hammond High School. Dr. Carson has been married to Evangelist Catherine L. (Tobin) Carson since September 10, 1978. They have a twin son Mychal D. Carson, Jr. and daughter Kendra Monque Carson. They have three grandsons Michael J. Carson, III., Keiron M. Sanders, Jailen Michael Clifton Carson, and one grand daughter JaMauryionne Catherine JaNaye Carson.
