“Make A Difference In Someone’s Life” “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.” Philippians 2:5-7 Have you ever done something that made the difference in the life of someone? Sure you have made a difference in someone’s life! You smiled at someone, or you helped someone up some stairs, or maybe you stood up for someone’s cause, or maybe you paid a bill for someone. Surely you prayed for someone today. No matter how you have made a difference in someone’s life you served them. God desires service from everyone claiming their allegiance to Jesus Christ. We have been created to serve. Our lives must go beyond what can be done only for “me and mine.” Our lives must make a difference in the lives of others. Jesus always made a difference in the lives of those he came into contact with. Because of Jesus persons with illnesses were healed, storms of nature, spirit, mind, and body were stilled. Persons dead in body and spirit were raised. Persons needing nourishment of food and of soul were fed. Person’s eyes and ears were open. Whenever Jesus arrived on the scene the situation always became better. Jesus was very clear that he was to serve persons in whatever state they found themselves in. Everything you have, who you are, where you have come from, and where you are going is not because you were the “first mover” in it. It is because of God’s grace. The very breath we breathe is God serving us. Always strive to calibrate your mind to that of the mind of Christ. Service is not always glorious and glamorous, in fact true service might cause one to sometimes get dirty. Service is not always easy in fact it often takes great effort to truly serve another. Jesus wore the suit of humanity to serve us. He served even to death on the cross for our liberty! God gave God’s very best to serve us. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “If a man is to be a street-sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, Here lived a great street-sweeper who did his job well.” Do your very best in serving others. Make a difference in the life of others. Serve your God, church, family, and community with your all and to your best ability. Serve God with great zeal and love. How awesome it is to know that because of your efforts the life of another is improved and enhanced. Everyday ask God “Who can I serve for you today? How can I make the life of someone else better today?” You will be surprised at what will happen just because you embraced being a servant. Peace with justice, be blessed real good, attend worship, and families matter.
